  1. Well, as to the elephant in the room, I think 48 hours is long enough to have seen an apology for this undeserved slur.
  2. Absolutely. So this rather means that someone who realises this through experience wouldn't ascribe a rarity number at all......!!
  3. The 'braggadocio bit' isn't, for me, the problem. (Would anyone claim not to have a swagger when owning such a fine collection?) I don't think the ability to spend cash and tell everyone about it gives anyone, except Michael Freeman, and Michael Gouby, the right to assign Freeman numbers or rarity symbols. Only immense academic effort is rewarded by the assignment of such rights and privileges, not spending cash....
  4. Hmmm...you state the the 1954 penny will hopefully not be sold or seen again....have a good long think about that statement and how it sounds....
  5. I wonder if this is the drill body I ordered off Ebay?
  6. I just noticed this - hmm....is it the same "disturbance in the field" that told Darth that Obi-wan was dead?
  7. That is a _very_ cleaned up version of an actual conversation between Ethel Merman and Ernest Borgnine when they were married....
  8. Oh thank you so much for that idea- I will drive all my family and friends mad with this for the rest of time......!
  9. I got out my schoolboy collection, and filled lots of GB stamp gaps from the mountains of stuff I inherited. There are more gaps to fill, so I'd love to see what anyone has that they aren't needing. I have to keep in mind that the stamp grading system is just as rigorous as the coin one....I wondered why so many of my stamps are worthless, then thought about it....duh....
  10. I've spent the last year collating a huge pile of old stamps and albums that I inherited from three different people, into one coherent set of stock books, to sell. They have a better distribution of older stamps, since some of the old stamp albums were very old. Does anyone on here have experience of selling stamp collections or advice on how/where to sell? I put a couple of sets on Ebay and they went for not much money...
  11. Time to wheel out my favourite, I feel:
  12. Ditto to you all. My 2024 wasn't good, and this Forum helped a lot!
  13. That makes me feel better- they wouldn't let me watch it either......!!!
  14. Watched 'Quatermass and the Pit' the other day- fantastic! Interesting dialogue exchange in the middle: Professor Bernard Quatermass : Roney, if we found out the earth was doomed, say, by climatic changes, what would we do about it? Dr.Matthew Roney : Nothing. Just go on squabbling as usual.
  15. Wow! Was it correctly identified as such when it was sold?
  16. That sounds like Donald...!
  17. Ah- but isn't that where the real fun is?
  18. I sometimes wonder whether, if I won the lottery and bought a big pile of rarities at an auction, which lets face it, is rather easy to do, I would get half the pleasure that I get from finding a worn rarity at the bottom of an old tin of crap like has happened on occasion...... ...and I can show off the found gem on here, instead of just hiding a pile of expensive bronze in a bank vault where no-one can see them.....
  19. Mathematics is hard. The athletics is on the telly. Both singular, hence 'is', not 'are'. When you abbreviate it, you shorten the word. For some reason, maybe just because of the sound, the English keep the 's'...
  20. Ha! One of the few things they have got right.....! The other one i noticed was inTrader Joe's supermarkets where the sign in the till lane said "15 items or fewer".....
  21. Should we all carry "RarestPennies" cards?
  22. Think they said each wheel was about 23kg, so the math works...
