Actually, from the photos there appear to be no runners for the trays, they just sit atop each other. I have seen this arrangement before and for light trays it seems to work.

I've just bought a Victorian coin cabinet on eBay but am now having second thoughts whether it is complete. Is there a storage drawer or a couple of trays missing in view of the gap at the top of the trays shown in the photographs. The seller is being very reasonable and is holding off from despatching the item until I decide. Does anyone have any suggestions about this? I must admit, I made the purchase using my mobile phone so when I took the plunge I missed seeing the gap at the top. Any opinions out there regarding this - see the original eBay listing that shows additional pictures of the item - has anyone else got a similar cabinet to this? Thanks Frank

It amazes me how righteous these scumbags are when they are so blatant in their efforts to con the unsuspecting.

I quite agree, I merely used the words "I urge you to relist this item" going on to say that the present listing contravened Ebay's rules, nothing more than that yet this guy took offence. Maybe I was a bit pompous but the words were polite. Yes, I shall report him.

I received quite an abusive reply from this dickhead calling me a dickhead and a prick (in capital letters)! He claimed I accused him of trying to con people even though I certainly did not mention that at all. He also claimed that the others that messaged him recognised that he knew nothing about coins whereas I had not. I seem to have hit a nerve with my message despite it being polite. I think I shall report the abuse.

Entirely my sentiments as well - this is a blatant example of deception. I reported him as well. To make eBay take note of this, perhaps each of us should report each eBay listed item in his shop - or may be that would just be a waste of time if eBay are just going ignore the reports.

In the seller's shop, the many other fakes for sale are all similarly described with absolutely no reference to reproduction anywhere as far as I can see. This is a clear case where eBay should force the seller to be honest regarding the descriptions.

Yes, very odd - also the email address certainly does not indicate someone with such connections.

Mind you, the Hilton Hotel bit does rather undermine what I have said above so I'd assume this one isn't legit. The email address is rather thought-provoking as well.

Actually guys, the business address could be legit since if you register a business through one of the company formation companies online you get the option to use one of their registered addresses for probably a couple of hundred a year and in order to attract the punters some of these are very prestigious sounding. They probably have thousands of businesses using the same address so it is very lucrative and they act as a mail forwarder for mail from Companies House - all for a fee of course. I had a Regent Street one when I owned a British registered company while I was based in Dubai.

Yes, I messaged both as well. Got a polite answer from the 'monkey-hanger' guy thanking me for letting him know and saying he'll amend the listing. Nothing back so far from the other.

Got a very quick response from the seller saying it was part of a 'job lot' and thanking me for pointing out his mistake. He did appear to be genuine. Actually, I also think he was mistaken because I wouldn't have thought anyone knowingly selling a fake such as this as genuine, would be stupid enough to take pictures that show the thickness of the coin - that's a sure sign of naivety rather than intentional fraud. Good on him though, he's going to relist it.
