  1. My latest acquisition is a Freeman 17, which is in GEF with some residual lustre. Unfortunately there are some light but noticeable scratches, especially to the reverse, which do detract somewhat. But as it's scarce, otherwise very nice, and I got it for a reduced price, it was worth buying. Another notch on the 1860 and 1861 joint series project bedpost.

  2. I returned the coin to Atlas today for a refund. As I've mentioned before, I really appreciated receiving the many diverse comments and opinions that I received from the forum's members. It wasn't an easy decision to make, but I finally decided to take advantage of Atlas's generous return privilege.

  3. Hi Colin, @Colin G. The grading for the Maundy is as follows: 1d is CGS 85 joint finest known, 2d is CGS 85 Finest Known does not mean much though as its the only one they have slabbed, 3d is CGS 80, 4d CGS 78 Really pleased with them. So thanks again Colin for the opportunity to buy these.

  4. I don't think it's legit to be honest. It may be my imagination, but at 7 o'clock on one of the images, I thought I detected a trace of old border teeth, and gaps at the bottom of the metal, consistent with the area underneath the Monarch's head. If I had to speculate, I'd say it had been tooled at some point, to make it look like a blank
