By it's very nature, this thread of mistrikes and flaws usually features low grade examples, so thought this composite of two nice 1929 obverses, missing waves and normal, should go here

1929%20types.jpg

though maybe this variety is better described as missing rocks

Forgetting about the missing waves for a second, that's a lovely 1929 :)

Anyone any ideas on this holed 1873 penny?

BP%201873%20Ae%201.jpg

I think it's probably post mint damage, but looks like an extra fold of drapery over the shoulder

I have been looking for a 1967 penny with missing waves below Lighthouse for a while. I have found one, not as dramatic as Richards on his website but the first I have found.

Whats your feeling on this. Mint error or post mint. Will try and get a few extra close-ups in a bit.

It's difficult to tell from the pictures, can you see detail where the mark is where the design should be? If it's a strike through you should have some sort of underlying design there, if it's been stamped post mint then that generally flattens the whole area and you can't see anything but the stamp.

In the larger picture it looks like the error is incuse or stamped into the coin. In the close up,it looks raised.

Which is it?

Are there any signs on the reverse or is it just on the obverse?

Its just on the obverse. I have stuied it and think it is a post mint error. Although it looks like it is a flap of metal from the ear out toward the cheek the imprint around definately looks impressed/stamped.

Anyway have been going through those pennies I got the other day and found another interesting piece. Everyone knows how much I like DOTS on coins but found this one very interesting. 190.0 date

Is there any sign of a mark on the reverse in the same place? On the ear error that is

Hmm. I'd go PM I guess, the mark is a bit too stamp-like. Interesting though!

Nice dot penny too :)

This one is a bit more tricky. Not sure if it is flaw or PM. I think it seems more like a flaw to me but maybe wrong. The coins is rubbish but I like it. A couple for this one

Nice errors Brian :) I especially like the florin

Is the reverse on the halfpenny flush to the surface or is the coin bent?

The Florin came from our good friend Pete. It makes a great edition to the collection.

As for the halfpenny its flush, although you can see very slightly where the error is on the other side of the coin at the top.
