arthurcrown Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Just been grading some of my collection with the help of my new and very helpful book. Thanks to the other members on here who recommended it to me.I've come across this strange possible overdate of the 4 on this fourpence. It's definitely not a double struck 4, any ideas what it may be ? Quote
Peckris Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 It doesn't look like an overdate to me - possibly a tiny piece of gunk got into the pressing? Quote
arthurcrown Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Thanks. That's a shame, were hoping it was something rare that might pay for Xmas !! Quote
VickySilver Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 IMO the 47/6 (sometimes 47/8 which appears different to me) is the choice overdate in better states of preservation. I think there is one on the PCGS foreign population report that looks UNDERGRADED if photos can be judged. The rest not so exciting.I had one overdate that I thought initially was not the more valuable non-overdate (1845/53) and would have been happy with that. Quote
