Dave rushton Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Hi I've come across this farthing in my coin collection and insure of its worth, please can anybody helpThanks Quote
Rob Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 It is worth it's intrinsic metal value in that condition, i.e. a few pence. 1853 is not a rare date. It isn't 1863 which is a bronze issue. Quote
Dave rushton Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 Right ok thanks cuz it is in a bad state, I can't make it out it did look like a 6 but I trust you guys you know more about coins than me haha! So worthless then ha! Quote
Rob Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 The 1863 has the date below Britannia, not Victoria. i.e. it's on the other side. Quote
Peckris Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Unfortunately, you have one of the commonest Victorian copper farthings, dated 1853 ... in shocking condition! Even if it was a scarce 1863 (which - from 1860 - is a different size, metal, and design), it would be worth little in that condition. Quote
