Simon S Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I have bought a job lot at auction and one of the items was a silver one pound coin (1983) it has a lustre finish, which I think is due to the ageing process. I will try to post pictures, I have made one attempt using my SLR but will make another. Advice on the lustre process please and I will use another device to try to get the pictures on line. Quote
TomGoodheart Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 ??? Lustre is a quality of an unworn coin, not something that a coin gains or that can be added by a process. Crudely put, it's a sort of satin sheen: Be interesting to see your photos. Quote
TomGoodheart Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) This coin looks a bit similar. But close inspection shows many small scratches. The 'lustre' here is down to 'whizzing' - polishing in other words: Edited March 27, 2014 by TomGoodheart Quote
