BrightLady Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Hello, I collect British 50p and Australian 50c commemorative coins. Just an oddity I started years ago. :-) What I would like to do is display the coins in frames on my wall so I can see them. To do this I would like cut a hole for each coin in a mounting card so I can get the wanted number of coins in the frame. The closest idea to this I have seen is a display tray available on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=111247810305. However, I want to be able to put the old and new sizes in a frame together as I only have a few of the old larger size coins.I thought I would use the acid free card that is used for mounting photos and pictures.Does anyone know if there are punch's available that cut a 50p shaped hole? I can't find anything 7 sided so far. I would settle for a circle the right size. I would need one each for the old and new 50p coins. The Aussie 50c coins are slightly bigger than the old British 50p.Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.Thank youBrightLady :-) Quote
Coinery Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I'm currently putting together a denomination set for a friend of mine! It was my thoughts to get a framing shop to cut out the holes for me (if it was possible?) but, if something better comes up here, I'll be all ears! Thanks for the post, I'll be really interested to read peoples' thoughts and ideas! Is the mounting card used by framers definitely acid free, I didn't realise that? Quote
Accumulator Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Welcome to the forum. I can't add anything as my coins are mostly not kept at home, and tend to be in capsules or slabs. It would be interesting to know which method you eventually choose, though, and certainly to see a photo of the finished job! Quote

I will definitely post what I come up with. Thanks :-) Quote
