Nick Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Oh, and finally don't expect any of the genealogy companies' indexes to be that accurate as they were largely transcribed by people whose first language was other than English and some truly jaw-dropping typos can occur. I recall that some of the early census transcriptions were done by prison inmates. When checked, it transpired that some inmates had replaced occupations related to the criminal justice system with particularly fruity Anglo-Saxon language alternatives. Quote
