ChKy Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Ok folks! As can be seen in a neighbouring threat, people from forum solved my severe problem ;-)This is what i tried to show you. That is a Victorian penny with a flaw at the rim. Any ideas?Either the blanck had a defect prior mintage or the coin missed the chance to leave the area of the dies before the next coin was struck Quote
Red Riley Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I'm guessing that it's a planchet (blank) flaw. I have quite often come across bronze pennies with small pieces of metal flaking off and from my recollection this occurs throughout the production run. For some reason bronze seems to be quite prone to this. Quote
