azda Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Hi everyone, Thanks for taking the time to look through my message.I have recently found an 'Anna Dei Gratia 1710 coin' well at least that is what I believe it to be.I have looked at so many sites online & read so much information, that now my brain is in overload mode & I'm really not sure what I'm looking at anymore. So I would really appreciate it if someone could please help me out & tell what it is I've actually found.I think it's supposed to represent a Guinea of the year, but for me the OBV is wrong, Annes nose and mouth certaintly look wrong. A pointed nose and a smiling mouth certainly don't look correct. Is it silver or Gold colour, what is the weight and diameter? Quote
Rob Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 It purports to be an Anne gold coin, but the shape of the crowns and datal 7 give it away as a forgery. There is also no toothed rim. Without the size I can't say what denomination, but the relatively cluttered design suggests either a guinea or half. Quote
azda Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 The fremch Arms shield also give it away, they are sitting into the shield Quote
seuk Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Interesting. The obverse is extremely close to the one I have - using same letter punches. The reverse however quite different. Quote
