1949threepence Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 id give nigel farage a chance at shaking things up......hes goodself described as the most hated person in european parliment.....gets my vote He really upset Herman Van Rompuy with some (to be fair, quite nasty) disparaging personal comments a year or two back IIRC. Not sure I like Farage as a person, but I've no doubt he'd shake things up. Shame UKIP haven't a hope of ever getting anywhere other than in Euro elections. Moreover, I don't think the electorate would take to him ~ he doesn't have the personality nor is he good looking. Those superficial qualities, like it or not, are ultra important components of electability these days. More importantly, people who make below the belt personal comments about others, are quite rightly, judged as unpleasant and arrogant characters. As an indication of how unpopular he might be, when he stood against John Bercow in Buckingham at the 2010 election, he only managed 3rd place. As for Ed Miliband, yes, he does come across as a bit smarmy. But I'll reserve judgement on his capabilities. Quote
