this is 4.8 gramm and 1 inch (23 mm) GOLDEN coloured coin...what can it be?i have tried to find out what metal it is but no luck.I will be grateful for any help!post-6581-072465100 1332275181_thumb.jpg

Its an underweight shilling. Its worn and drilled so the weight loss might be due to this. It should weigh 5.65g

P.s, it's also silver, GOLDEN is probably the toning

Or, it could have been gilded at some point - a lot of coins of that era were, especially farthings a few years after that shilling.

i was thinking the same,but i scratched a little bit inside the hole...and it is still golden colour:)how can i check it for sure?i was all over Bristol Gold stores and they did not help me.

Glad to see that my variation system is useful ;)

Its indeed a group J - with the typical walrus Q - and made of brass.

Due to the shilling being holed I guess are fair price is somewhere in the area of £1 to £5
