I have an 1862 Penny I may purchase..my question is the number 1, in the 1862...it seems to be missing the upper left serif. Might this be of interest?

Thanks

Cal

I don't know where you're located, but I'd echo the others' advice - stay away from that penny, it's not a good one!

I'm in California...thanks for the advice...I'm learning...you folks are saving me a lot of headaches, and, $$$$$$$....

What I've decided to do is for each denomination, make a short type set...it will include the first and last date coins...it will be a good, slow educational experience, and, I can fill in from there...some coins will be 1 of each Emperor, and, very simple....

I have to admit, the counterfeit bug has hit me, and, that is another area of interest, as long as they are "contemporary", and not modern fantasy crap.

As far as California goes, right now in a major dry spell...this is usually our wettest time of year(last year about 35 inches of rain)..temps today near 68 degrees, with no rain in sight for 10 days...

Back to coins now..thanks again

Cal
