Master Jmd Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Tim Henman's out of wimbledon after (as usual) getting through to the quarter-finals. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Hardly anyone wins Wimbledon 2 or 3 times in a row, so even though Tim has never won (and isn't getting any younger), at least he's consistant!I take my hat off to the man, that's certainly more running around in the sun than I'd like to do. Emperor Oli Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Hardly surprising, is it? He's just not Wimbledon-winning calibre, compared to some others like Federer or Mauresmo. Bookies are even taking bets on Henman's daughter winning it before him, with better odds! Quote
Master Jmd Posted July 1, 2004 Author Posted July 1, 2004 Really? I didn't know that!!! Neither did I, but i suppose in a way his daughter does have a better chance of wnning Quote
Geoff T Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Literally round the corner from my house is the one where the last British player to win the men's singles at Wimbledon was born. It's also up for sale, so if anyone fancies living in Fred Perry's birthplace, complete with blue plaque, get round there.Sadly, most Stopfordians think he's just a designer label. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Houses are cheap up north aren't they, what is it? £10,000, £15,000?? Quote

Actually, you pay for the blue plaque and they throw the house in for free, but you're not allowed to keep whippets or pigeons and you have to provide your own coal for the bath Quote

Geoff T Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Anyone familiar with the Bredbury/Marple side of Stockport as you recently let slip you were will know that we're too upmarket to keep pigeons. After all, we have carpets... Quote
Sylvester Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Anyone familiar with the Bredbury/Marple side of Stockport as you recently let slip you were will know that we're too upmarket to keep pigeons. After all, we have carpets... Yes i know both places, i was joking about the pigeons...If i remember rightly Bredbury was a few stops down from Belle View (former Zoo etc.), and don't let the name fool yet... as the blown up shelter (and i do mean blown up, looks like it was packed with fireworks), on the platform will testify to. It's amazing what Mancunians will do when they haven't got pigeons to tend to... Quote
