I'm located in the US, Jon, so I don't think I'd have any better luck at receiving the broadcast than you did. What areas/countries does it reach?

It's Three Counties radio so thats broadcasted to Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire I think

I can't pick it up either :(

Can anyone on here pick it up? As far as I know, no one can, bt I may be wrong :)

Unless they are in Bucks, Herts and Bed then they can.

But i'm in Yorks so i can't either. I have trouble picking up Hallam FM (From other side of my city), but i can pick up Minster FM all the way from York...? what#! :o

I can pick up a french radio station on LW168 all the way up in Lancashire!

Ah well longwave is totally understandable, i've picked up French Stations before, but FM stations are shorter wavelength and don't travel nearly as far, better quality when you are near (Unlike MW and LW), but go one county away and it's totally gone.

Or something like that.

If i remember my Physics lessons correctly, FM shorter but more intense wavelength... LW = well longer wavelengths, the latter go further and don't get as much interruption.

I get french radio all the time but it is usually quite a faint signal. Btw, who on here has met one-another. I have met Chris, but that's it.....

I would strongly reccomend if you can, you come to the LCF in november because it has absolutely everything. From groats to third farthings, from 1826 £5 to hammered pennies. Everything and enything is at the LCF. Also, if you go then you will meet Chris! Honestly, it was the best day out I have ever been on. There is just so many high grade coins. In fact, I went mad and doubled the value of my collection overnight! Seriously, if you need to complete a variety, date, type run, then the LCF is the best place to do it! Who can come?

Can you get an Ansell sovereign there?

Also on my to watch for list...

1694 & 1710 sixpences.

And 1686 and 1687 half guineas to complete my half guinea set.

When is it? I would really love to come, but london is about 200 or 300 miles away. Lets see, if I can nag my dad enough, he just might let me come, but I'd have to stay in a hotel or something for te night, as London is so far away... :( The chances are against me, but I'll ask :)

Hmm...i have not considered the london coin fair yet...i will ask now...

...ok, my mum says maybe, but after my birthday, if i save up every week from 7th august - 6th November then i will only have £75 to spend...

When I was there I saw a specialist sovereign dealer with an ansell sovereign.......

i really want one, can't afford one but i'd like to see one!

Question is if you drop it will it break? ;)

And would it be wise to wash your hands after handling one... considering the stuff in there? (or is it non-toxic when alloyed?)

You can still get coins from great coin dealers such as Chris but you can also get coins which you never thought you would get. I never thought I would get a BU GEM 1925ME half penny, but I did.........

I think the people who have dropped them have been ver upset for a very long time........
