I have an odd twenty pence piece and was hoping members could help me decide why it is like this please. My son noticed it when getting some money from my purse. It has the normal faces, but the main side has an extra blob of metal on it, and the reverse has a penny stamped off centre. Any advise greatfully recieved thank you. I have taken photos of the sides but they were too big to upload on the site. I can send them by email, please mail me at dollyhill@aol.com

Hi Susan,

Welcome to the forums.

I have sent you an Email. Send the pics and I will rework them and post them here.

Kind regards,

Here are the pics from Susan.

My opinion is post Mint damage. Coin has been subject to extreme pressure while in contact with a penny, hence the flattening of the reverse. Sorry Susan but no value other than 20p.

Thanks for emailing me the pic Susan - and to Gary for having the foresight to post them!

Unfortunately, I concur with the post-mint assessment - looks like someone has has fun with a hammer! An interesting curio and/or conversation piece, but no 'special' value...
