Marie Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Good afternoon! My grandfather has passed me 4 x gold £2 coins to have valuated and I must admit, I know absolutley nothing about coins. I will have further details about the coins when I get home but I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me anything in advance as a rough guide? Many thanks in advance for your help!Marie Quote

If they are gold or gold proof issues the values will depend on grade and rarity but will be in excess of £300 each even for the common ones.John. Quote

azda Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) It will depend on if they are GOLD, if they are, then it would come down to weight, you will most definately have the minimum Gold weight value, although personally i have the opinion that they are Gold as your relative wouldn't give you 8 quid to get valued now would he, and with your question, its obvious that its not just any old 8 quid, so my opinion is, probably Gold.I'll add a P.s here, please try and post some pictures, those are very useful when trying to eveluate a coin. Well, as much as I love my Grandad, he could very well have given me £8 to have valuated but as I know absolutley nothing I'd probably do the same too! I'll get pics ASAP :-) Quote
