Accumulator Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I mentioned this in the discussions on the 1922 penny but it rather got lost, so am posting here as a separate thread.Spink (2010) catalogue a 1927 penny no. 4054A. Described as having a "shorter index finger". The price suggests its very common but I have never knowingly seen one and, as far as I can tell, nor has anyone else! I presume this is a mistake or am I missing something obvious?I assume they have got confused with the change of position of Britannia's hand on the shield from 1922. A better description would be "shorter thumb", but it any case it's the same as 1927 catalogue number 4054. Interestingly identical coins therefore have different prices! Quote
