Guest Richard Brown Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hi, I've just been sorting through some of my deceased father in laws things and came across loads of predecimal coins. Amongst them were these...1797 George III Cartwheel Two Pence - Quite good condition1806 George III Third Guinea - A bit worn1821 George IIII Half Crown - Quite good conditionI'll post some pictures soon. The question is how much are these worth? I've yet to get going on all the Victorian and later coins! Quote

It's either a penny or a halfpenny, depending on size, but worth almost nothing in that condition. The other two are Fine (give or take) and worth around £20 each. Hope that helps. Quote
SionGilbey Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Quick grade:Cartwheel: Fine - £20Shilling: Good Fine - £25Third Guinea: about Fine - third guineas are gold, that's more likely an 1806 halfpenny worth around £1-2 Quote
azda Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Quick grade:Cartwheel: Fine - £20Shilling: Good Fine - £25Third Guinea: about Fine - third guineas are gold, that's more likely an 1806 halfpenny worth around £1-2The Shilling is actually a Halfcrown Sion and at a guess (pix are a bit distant) i'm going with VF which in Spink 2011 is 85 quid. If you crop around the pictures Richard you'll get a close up of the coin, and also if you take more pictures, try and get a little nearer so we can see more detail as that is important for grading Edited February 16, 2011 by azda Quote
Chris Perkins Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I don't think that's VF Azda! Looks around fine - a £20 coin really. Better, cropped pictures would of course assist. Quote
