Hi, I've just been sorting through some of my deceased father in laws things and came across loads of predecimal coins. Amongst them were these...

1797 George III Cartwheel Two Pence - Quite good condition

1806 George III Third Guinea - A bit worn

1821 George IIII Half Crown - Quite good condition

I'll post some pictures soon.

The question is how much are these worth? I've yet to get going on all the Victorian and later coins!

Pictures are the only way we can grade them - and that's the key to the value.

Your cartwheel could be anything from £15 to £120...

From CCGB 2009 :

1797 twopence - F £20 VF £45 EF £110

1821 halfcrown - F £20 VF £50 EF £160

You get the point why we need pictures, I hope!

The 1806 coin is not a third guinea! It's either a penny or a halfpenny, depending on size, but worth almost nothing in that condition. The other two are Fine (give or take) and worth around £20 each. Hope that helps.

Quick grade:

Cartwheel: Fine - £20

Shilling: Good Fine - £25

Third Guinea: about Fine - third guineas are gold, that's more likely an 1806 halfpenny worth around £1-2

The Shilling is actually a Halfcrown Sion and at a guess (pix are a bit distant) i'm going with VF which in Spink 2011 is 85 quid. If you crop around the pictures Richard you'll get a close up of the coin, and also if you take more pictures, try and get a little nearer so we can see more detail as that is important for grading

I don't think that's VF Azda! Looks around fine - a £20 coin really. Better, cropped pictures would of course assist.
