TomGoodheart Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Ever done a search only to find a coin you'd have liked really wanted but the auction has ended? Happened to me today. Search at 7pm; auction ended .. 5.30. Hence the *bother*S'OK. I just wanted a convenient place to mentally kick myself and this is it.I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if it sold. Probably did but .. nothing ventured. And then I'll either come back to celebrate or another kick. Quote
1949threepence Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 That has happened to me, Tom, and it was a coin I really wanted. It's easy to get distracted and forget all about it. Then you could kick yourself afterwards for being so stupid. What I do now, is to list the auction coins I'm interested in for the next week or so, together with the relevant times, and leave the list on the tabel by my PC. It's always in large font. I sometimes then set an alarm for about 15 minutes before the end of the auction, and always turn off my phone so I never get disturbed. It's astounding how the bloody thing rings at the most inconvenient times, whilst the rest of the day it's silent. If the end of an auction co-incides with work time, I arrange to swipe out and go home. I could swipe out and use the internet at work, but the connection is too slow to be reliable for last second manual bids. Quote
azda Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Lol, its amazing the lengths we go to, to bid on THAT coin. Tom if you wish, you could bend over and i'll kick your ass for you, just incase you miss it Quote
TomGoodheart Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 Thanks Dave. (You quickly find out who your friends are here don't you?) It was just .. ironic or whatever the word is. It was on a site I've never been on and an auction house I've never heard of! As I say, I'll call them tomorrow and see if it's gone or if I can pick it up in the clearance. I spotted another coin there that's quite interesting too. It's a general antiques and collectables sale so maybe nobody has picked them up. *he says with fingers crossed* Quote
TomGoodheart Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 Sold on the day I'm afraid. Oh well, that's all part of the fun of the chase I suppose! Quote
