edward hammered groat seems unreal?

hi everyone

i have recently recieved a hammered groat from edward iv which on getting the item i feel it to not be real.

the weight is only 2.1 grams but that i suppose could be taken into consideration of the cipping on the coin

the second thing that gets me is the ammound of pits in the coin especiay at just after 9 o clock on the obverse

i have gotten back onto the seller and they are happy to have the coin back and refund monies but if anyone has any

positive views to change my mind then pease say so as if it is real id realy love to keep it

yours looks to be one of two coins

its def henry VII but looks more to be the half groat due to the spacing between the neck and head

nice coin though

ive just recieved another coin today an edward IV ight coinage groat minted in norwich which i can see know real deal. i am to believe is not a common issue to come by. now i have these two coins and i am 100% sure that the london one i have above is dodgy ive had that feeing since first handling the coin, it just didnt seem right

Why not take it to your local dealer Chris and get his opinion before sending it back

i did try and see one yesterday but he was working at his other shop until thursday. im pretty sure its a copy,

its a thicker coin with an edge

its 1gram underweight

theres too many bubbles on the coin

unlike the one i recieved today which it 2.5grams but clipped

its a much thinner coin

but the main thing is theres not too much off that bubble in the coin

Your coin does look a little suspect to me but mainly due to the colour and patina rather than any glaringly obvious features. Is it possible to have some larger photographs as I am struggling to see the appropriate detail from these small ones?

As for Kris,

Your coin is a halfgroat of Henry VII, Canterbury mint. It looks to be of the joint issue between the King and Archbishop Morton and appears to be type IIIb with ornate lettering and rosette stops.

the coin has been sent back now there were too many questions on the piece,

shame really it was a nice item.
