Hi I know this is a common topic. There seem to be a lot of threads on scrapping silver.

Can I sell old brass 3ds and old copper pennies from QV-QEII (large size ones). I have a load of pennies I do not want can I sell them for scrap copper?? What can I expect for 100g/Kg of each or are the QV/large QEII pennies different content.

I have picked up loads from auctions and they are just taking up space.

Thanks Russ777

Probably more hassle in selling them than they are worth ie transport / post costs etc.

I started saving pre 1992 copper as these were worth more than face value....but now I've just bagged them up and put the £ into the Kids post office accounts.

I've got sacks of predecimal coins & US cents in the loft.....I wish a charity would come round and take them away.

Peter,

Thats what I did with my last lot, scrap merchant was not interested (I believe it was something to do with the scrap leaving the country to be processed, which incurred costs or had restrictions) so I dropped them at a local charity shop.

I currently have about 50K cents, only 6K of British pennies though.
