rolling Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I cant find the first trident prong - have magnified but the coin shows no sign of it ever being there? Quote
RLC35 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 You have a 1839 2 prong trident. It has a premium over the regular 1839 coin.Bob C. Quote
rolling Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 Thank you for the information, any idea on value? Quote
RLC35 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 The 1839 Farthing (with "no stop" after DEF, like your speciman) has a value of 5 pounds in Fine condition. No value is shown for the 2 prong version, but I would assume about a 15-20% premium over the aforementioned pricing. Quote
Peter Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Look out for the 2 prong 1840 version....it took me years to get one. Quote
RLC35 Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Peter,I never thought about the 1840...but I think you are right! I have four (4) of the 1839 2 prong farthings, but none of the 1840's! Quote
scott Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 there are a fair few 1839 2 prongs on ebay, might pick one up cheaply. Quote
