Contacted seller and explained, he said the correct coin would be posted out, no apology.A few days later still no coin, contacted him again, he said that he was keeping my coin and would not send it out until I had returned the other coin to him at my cost. To try and resolve things amicably, I returned the coin at my expense back to him, still no apology or thanks for returning the incorrect coin at my expense.Several weeks later still no coin, and I am out of pocket for returning the coin back to him that he sent by mistake!!It has been a long time since I felt the need to issue a neg, but it may be happening soon!! RLC35 Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 If you bought the coin on eBay, and paid for the coin with PayPal, you can file a claim with PayPal, and they will make an effort to correct the issue. You stand a better chance of applying pressure that way. You might still not collect anything, but you will have tried. PayPal has a deductable of $25.00, so if the coin was low cost, that might keep you from collecting, but at least you won't let the seller get by without any intervention.It is a real shame that the 1% of (bad) sellers are not honorable, because it sure takes the fun out dealing on eBay and on-line. Luckily that 1% are the exception...not the rule. Good luck with it. Quote

But it is one of the reasons I pay by credit card through e bay, rather than debit. Doing that, at least you won't have parted with any money at the time you raise the dispute. I also never buy off anyone with less than 99.5% positive rep, nor anyone based overseas. Colin, may we ask you to name and shame the seller, so that we can avoid him in future ? Quote

In fact I have had no problems with overseas sellers. I buy mostly from Ukraine or Russia now, usually not coins though - usually music, art etc. My more interesting purchases have been from countries like Indonesia, Hong Kong, China etc, but everything arrived just fine and I was a pleased camper with the goods and shipping. I do buy banknotes from a seller in Thailand about 3-4 times a year, he prices stuff fairly and ships securely and I have gotten very nice stuff otherwise difficult to find. Quote

declanwmagee Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Here's my eBay balls-up of the week.Someone new came into our shop and spent £20 on a nice VF+ 1916 Halfcrown, so we thought we'd give him the full treatment as he was new to us - nice little coloured envelope, sprig of lavender and hand-written "Thank You". He requested Record Delivery but we forgot to do that and sent it normal first class with all the others. Realised this when we got back from the Post Office, so, being nice people, dropped him an email telling him we'd sent it, but only 1st class, and would refund him the extra 50p he'd paid for Recorded, and apologised for our incompetence...then dropped over to PayPal to send him the 50p, and promptly refunded him the lot.So now another grovelling email to ask him to pay for it again...I'm sure he will - he'll have had the coin by now; but it means I have to curtail my shopping till the payment comes back, and I bet I've missed all the bargains - I could have done a lot with that £20 this weekend Quote
