what is your favourite decimalised coin?

mine would have to be the 2p, the reason for this is that i have all of the 2p's from 1980 - 2004 (excluding proofs) in GEF condition with full lustre...

My favourite is the Normal (not commorative) £2 coin, I just love the design! :)

I voted for the 20p. Something about them, I just like. The incuse legends around the edge give it some style, and I think the design on the reverse is one of the better designs on circulation issues.

I voted 50p because Britannia on the reverse harks back to the days of yore. Plus, we occasionally get some quite remarkable ones, like the NHS anniversary. If they only put that much effort into the hospitals, we might be getting somewhere!

That's not a very good picture, one can only just make out the hands but still very nice!

Nice page here, plus some other nice designs.

I personally hate that NHS 50p!

Are we allowed to include the silver £2 Britannias? If so, they get my vote.

Oh yes, they come near the top of my list too

I like that coin. Are they easy to find in circulation??

Thanks for the link to the page about 50p. Now I can sit down and figure out which all ones I need to complete my set. A bunch, I know that.

I have one of those NHS 50p's that i found in circulation in 2000/2001, but i have not seen another since, so you may get lucky...

I already have all the 'rarer' 50p's apart from this years...

I have found some of them in circulation, but only rarely the NHS one. I find that the public libraries one is quite easy to find in circulation. Do you have that one?

Posted

oh yes, there is also the 1973 EEC 50p, but that cannot be found in circulation anymore, and there is the 1998 25th anniversary of the EU that i have found many of them...

There are many different designs for modern coins however there are hardly any varieties for those designs. So that is why I think that coin prices will continue to soar because no one will want to collect decimal coins.

I like £2 coins, the normal reverse.

Gotta love the Britannia 50s, and the 20p.

Kinda like 10ps, they are a nice size.

I really like pennies 1971-1984.

I really, really, really, really....(to the power of 657.8), hate 5ps, i wish they'd demonetise them.

I stipulate against taking them, prefering 3 copper coins instead.

I have one in my wallet at this very minute and at least one other at home. Shall I put your name on one?

And there was I thinking I was doing my good deed for the day ;)

The offer's still on Kuhli!

Kuhli, can you private me with your details. It's worth just under a dollar at present rates, so add on likely postage (I imagine only $2 or so) and I'll leave the choice of what you send me up to you.

Am I seeing a Churchie here?!
