Help With 1967 Pennies

Recommended Posts

I read a posting about 1967 pennies and how they are so common and unwanted that people couldn’t sell or get rid of them. My brother and I are due to publish a book on the history of our local market and thought that if anyone wanted to be rid of their 1967 pennies then we could actually give one away with every book – perhaps with a printed text explaining what could have been bought for 1d at various points in history. Of course this would depend on us being able to obtain enough coins (say 250-500). Obviously, in giving them away we wouldn’t want to pay more than shipping costs but thought it may be a way of actually doing something useful with unwanted coins. I stress that we would NOT be selling them and that they would be given away FREE. You can email me if you Click here! or you can read about us if you Click here!

Copy cat!

I did a very similar thing and gave away 1966 halfpennies on the front on my 2008 Collector's Coins. I had to source over 7000 of them. I still have a couple of thousand and could send you a few hundred for the cost of posting. You'll probably need little envelopes too, so that the coins can be stuck on without actually sticking the coin. I can supply those too.

Chris,

Many thanks for your reply and for your very kind offer. Knowing that you have 'given a coin with a book' before doesn't make our idea sound so daft. Please contact me so we can sort out delivery and costs my email is hoyd@btinternet.com

Regards

It sounds like a good idea and and may actually encourage new collectors to the hobby.

Can I ask what you book is specifically going to be about? any title's for it yet?
