Chris Perkins Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 There I am at the top of the list. It took a lot of effort to get there, hopefully I'll stay there for some time. Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 Well done, Chris, clever manipulation! On another note, do google "Weapons of mass destruction" and click "I'm Feeling Lucky" Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 (edited) Old, but still relevant I'm surprised google hasn't fixed it! Another one is "French milirat victories" Edit: God that's a bad typo, it's "French military victories" Edited May 1, 2004 by Emperor Oli Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 Totally turns the search on its head, doesn't it!Here's another, do "I'm feeling lucky" with "anti-war peace protesters" Quote
Sylvester Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 ah but have you actually clicked the suggested link that google gave you on that french one? Quote
william Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 You also come 4th on an MSN search: http://uk.search.msn.com/preview.aspx?&q=British+coins Quote
william Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 Hmm look who else is on that page I was wondering who would bring that up... Still, Chris is ahead of them! Quote
bob-e Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 Just done a Google search for Seadart, and who do you think is top of the list? Never tried that before. I wonder how I got there.?How would that have happened Chris? Thought you had to pay mega bucks to get in that position.I’ve never paid any one to be on a search engine.CheersBob Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 He didn't apy, he told us how he did it a while ago. He basically said, instead of paying tons to be advertised all over, he read up on this sort of thing and managed to get predecimal to the top. Don't ask me how, it's too complicated for me! Quote
Chris Perkins Posted May 1, 2004 Author Posted May 1, 2004 The reason you are at the top with 'seadart' Bob is because you have probably the only website in the world that uses those 2 words together, or at least uses them together the most. The search engine bots need just follow a link form another site, and there you are, at the top.Being top with 'seadart' is all very well, but how many people around the world actually search for that phrase?? :sGeting to the top with a more common well used phrase like 'British coins' was a little harder, but with the right research and experimentation, not impossible. bob-e Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 Cheers for that Chris. You learn something new every day Noticed you were top out of about half a mil sites. cool.mine was just under 2000. Bob Quote
