Chris Perkins Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 I've handled 4 1934 Crowns, have a couple of mis struck coins that I believe to be very rare, and I have a Cupro Nickel 1868 Halfpenny (courtesy of one of the forum members).Others have passed by too, but I can't remember them all. Quote
Sylvester Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 I've had the pleasure of holding a Gothic Crown (but i wouldn't call that extremely rare).Otherwise nope not really. Quote
william Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 I thought you said in another thread that you did have an extremely rare coin Sylvester, no? The rarest coins I have are a threehalfpence with the date 1843/34 and a Gibraltar two quarts coin with the date 1842/1. They are both fairly rare, but I do not have an extremely rare coin though... Sylvester Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 That's that king Stephen penny, but it's very rare not extremely rare, or Was it Ex Rare? Can't remember but it's not as rare as a 1933 penny. Quote
william Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 I think the ones I listed above are Very Rares... Quote
custard1966 Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 I've got an obscure rarityAn 1863 penny with the open style 3According to the Satin reference there are only 6 knownDon't know if mine is a seventh Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 Wow, that is rare! Is it your most cherished coin? Quote
custard1966 Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 Well, it's only about fine so I cherish it for its rarity, but not its looks I'd say my favourite is either my 1839 proof - rare AND beautifulOr a choice uncirculated cartwheel penny with about 50% lustre - shows Bolton's handiwork at its best Quote
Sylvester Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 I've got an obscure rarityAn 1863 penny with the open style 3According to the Satin reference there are only 6 knownDon't know if mine is a seventh well if your's is a seventh then it ties with the 1933 penny, if there is only six and you've got the 6th one then they are rarer. Sylvester Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 supply and demand again... 1933s will always be sought after because no-one likes a gap in their penny collection.Minor varities pull the serious/advanced collectors, a whole missing year pulls anyone doing a date set. Quote
Master Jmd Posted April 29, 2004 Author Posted April 29, 2004 i always sort my pennies as: 1931, 1932, 1934, 1935 ect... because i know i will more then likely get a 1933! Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 because i know i will more then likely get a 1933!err what? Quote
Master Jmd Posted April 29, 2004 Author Posted April 29, 2004 err what? oops ,correction: because i know i will more then likely not get a 1933! Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 I thought so. If I was you, I would have said it was sarcasm to embarass me, but both works! Quote
