I bought this:

89_1_b.JPGa1_1.JPG

it cost me £47.25 from ebay, and it is this:

Folder containing coin sets for each year to halfcrown for years 1953 to1967 including 3 crowns[15 sets,117 coins].Crowns and many others unc, remainder have been in circulation.

would you say it was worth it?

How many of them are UNC?

I thought you didn't collect stuff like that?!

I am more into pennies, but i thought that i would go for this seeing as it has the 3 crowns that i dont have, and a nice set of 1953 coins...i do not only collect pennies, i also have about 80 lustorious farthings from 1806 onwards, and about 50 lustorious halfpennies...

w many of them are UNC?

the seller said around 40 of them are unc...

Can you attach a picture of the 1806 lustrous farthing, as I'd really love to see it?

here is an attempt, but my camera doesnt pick up on the lustre too well:

I'm not saying a word.

Hmmm, either it's your camera or the coin, but where is the lustre on that?

there is no lustre on that coin. Its worn too so even if it had lustre it wouldn't be worth much

it is worn, yes, i do not favour it...it does have about: 20% lustre around the coin's reverce and about 5% on the obverse, the rim has full lustre (well, not like a Bunc coins lustre)...my favourite farthing (not lustreous) is a 1828 one, with all details clearly visable...

Try scanning, these coins sound excellent if the coins are the way you described them!

Duh not just for one coin, you can attach scans of your many other supposedly "lustrous" coins plus it's useful for scanning documents etc.

Talking of Farthings, has colin cooke still got his 1864 copper proof farthing?

:rolleyes::wacko::rolleyes:

Posted

I assume that means no?

Posted

He still has, but it's locked away in his private collection along with his 1952 half crown and numerous 1860 copper farthings! He refused an offer for it of £8,500 in 1999.

I believe Geoff has held that half crown! :D I can't see why he would refuse an offer for £8500...
