Hello.

I have a couple of them, and just checked them both, neither one has the doubling. I assume that the date has been repunched.

Please take a look at the last picture where I have mentioned the last "4", it is not looks like it was doubled.

This is my 1854/3

Plain Trident. 4 over 3 in date. BMC 1505. Most purported 4/3 examples are spurious with the right and lower serifs joined to give an apparent curve of an underlying 3. The tell-tale evidence of a genuine 4 over 3 is the cross stroke of the top of the 3 which protrudes either side of the top of the angle of the 4.
