Half Penny Jon Posted April 16, 2004 Author Posted April 16, 2004 I totally agree with his 'prices' issue, I would never buy anything from him purely for the reason that he doubles his prices according to Spink. Quote
william Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 I've never bought from him, and never will! The stuff he sells is just stuff which collectors don't want, maybe he should sell them to a junkyard... Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 16, 2004 Author Posted April 16, 2004 Also, he spends a small fortune on advertising in every book and magazine imaginable, which is probably why new collectors buy from him. Quote
william Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Yep, he's everywhere, have you seen how much he has in Coin News? He also has two advertisements in Coin Yearbook... Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 16, 2004 Author Posted April 16, 2004 I'm surprised that he hasn't bribed Spink to place an advert in there. Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 One really can't fault him for business sense! Chris, have you thought about saturating the media with adverts for this place? Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 16, 2004 Author Posted April 16, 2004 One really can't fault him for business sense! I know, he must be doing alright for himself is he had thousands of people on his mailing lists. Quote
william Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 I just hope Spink don't put any adverts in their catalogue!Btw Oli, Chris does have an advertisement in Coin News, and Coin Yearbook Quote
william Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Collectors would just get annoyed with him if he did have tons of adverts like Coincraft. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 I can't afford those great big full colour pages boasting that I must buy £1,000,000 worth of coins this week!I thought about taking the piss and doing a small black and white ad....'I must spend £50 on coins this week' What do you rekon? Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Haha you'd certainly get a laugh or two from more experienced collectors Quote
william Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 (edited) You could do I suppose, but what if you don't manage to spend the 50 quid? Edited April 16, 2004 by william Quote
Chris Perkins Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Ok, next time beautfiul Carol at Coin News contacts me about the next ad, I'll make some design changes! Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 16, 2004 Author Posted April 16, 2004 I've only ever been to Coincraft's shop once, and that was because I was contemplating a set of Elizabeth II farthings for £10. I ran after they told me the price. Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Ok, next time beautfiul Carol at Coin News contacts me about the next ad, I'll make some design changes! Can't wait to see it! Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 16, 2004 Author Posted April 16, 2004 Should be interesting. How many hits does the Predecimal website get a month? Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 I think Chris said 3000 a while ago..... Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Yeah I was quite shocked. I dread to think what Coincraft gets though hehe Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 16, 2004 Author Posted April 16, 2004 I would say about 20,000-30,000 maybe more due to their extensive advertising. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Add a '0' oli, it was 39,382 unique machines in March, some of those will be search engines, some will be people looking for something else, that end up clicking straight on the 'back' button. A lot of them are the same person more than once because dial up ISP's give you a different IP address everytime you go online.Despite that, it's impressive. My rating has dropped on the world stage, but predecimal.com was once the 421,000th (ish) most visited website in the world acording to www.alexa.com Quote

Emperor Oli Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 The one thing about the Coincraft site I like (Emperor Oli prepares for flaming) is.........the coin in their banner! Quote
