Half Penny Jon Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I have done 4 posts so far during I.C.T lessons (bearing in mind that I have not been a member for very long). Quote
william Posted April 24, 2004 Author Posted April 24, 2004 Do you get permission? I do it when we're aloud to use the internet for research so no one will notice I'm on the internet when I shouldn't be! Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I do the same thing, I usually get the research done preety quickly. Look at my latest topic in Lots of British Coin related discussions. Quote
william Posted April 24, 2004 Author Posted April 24, 2004 I have just replied to it! PS: I also do my research really quickly so that I can come on here! Quote
Sylvester Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I prefer writing to typing, it takes me too long to type i'm a much faster writer.(and a much messier writer). Quote
william Posted April 24, 2004 Author Posted April 24, 2004 I am faster at writing too, but I'm beginning to prefer typing cos writing hurts my hand a bit Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Writing hurts your hands after a few lines. I prefer typing. Quote
william Posted April 24, 2004 Author Posted April 24, 2004 I assume people who can touch type do prefer typing cos they're so fast, no? Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I would imagine so, you would have to ask his royal highness Emperor Oli. Quote
william Posted April 24, 2004 Author Posted April 24, 2004 I would imagine so, you would have to ask his royal highness Emperor Oli. Can you touch type Penny Master, or is it just HRH Emperor Oli? Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Unfortunately I can't but I can type quite fast. Quote
william Posted April 24, 2004 Author Posted April 24, 2004 I can type fast but can't touch type either. I tried to learn how, but got bored of it as it took ages and it was not very enjoyable at all! Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I tried to learn ages ago but i just couldn't do it. Quote
Sylvester Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 well i'm a one finger typinst, and i have to keep both eyes fixed on the keyboard whilst i am typing, so that i can actually see what letter i'm going for, although i do know where they are located. At least i'm not having to look around for the letters all the time. The funny bit is i can only type with one hand (and one finger), but i can write with both hands. Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I don't mind either. Typing is advantageous for me as it's quick but I like writing and I'm learning shorthand which is hellish - all squiggles and dots. My writing is pretty neat and swirly but I smudge it occasionally as I'm left-handed. Quote
william Posted April 24, 2004 Author Posted April 24, 2004 I am right handed. What is short hand? Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Shorthand is what secretaries used to (some still do) write. They used it when their Superior was dictating a letter or a memo. All it is is squiggles etc which represent the sounds of the words. It is remarkably quick and quite easy to decipher - or so I've been told Quote
Sylvester Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Yes the joy of short hand, i wouldn't have a clue.Funny that Oli i'm predominantly left handed too. I write at least 95% of things with the left hand, unfortunately it's the least legible of the two.The right hand kills after two paragraphs, which would take me at least 15 minutes to write. But it's useful for writing on blackboards, and short notes on the calendar if the t'other one is unavailable. Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 To be quite honest, I wouldn't have a clue either, but with a little learning, I could probably grasp the concept. Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 No, you couldn't. The people who actually write this studied it at schools for years. Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 They must be really commited. Is there a whole dictionary for shorthand? Quote
