TomGoodheart Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 (edited) Gee Peter - not much detail! Please can you confirm the reverse design is the same as the obverse? Is the metal silver? And the size/diameter please? Edited August 23, 2006 by TomGoodheart Quote
TomGoodheart Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 O kay... metal and dimensions would still help. And whether the coin is the same on both sides?I haven't a clue. However, I have a couple of guesses which I hope someone else on the site might dismiss or back up.First impression is along the line you have taken - mid European, possibly German. Around 15th century. Pfennig / 1/2 pfennig from one of the German city states? Certainly the monogram should be identifiable but so far I have failed to find a match. Regensburg seems logical with it's emblem of crossed keys but I can't see examples where the keys have been adapted like this to form letters. Perhaps another Burg or a Bishop's monogram? Certainly it was quite common in that part of the world to make a monogram out of someone's name or initials - some are more obvious than others.Course, it could be something else entirely..! Quote
Guest Guest Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I get the diameter as soon as i get from work.No the sides are not identical. I allmost sure that the metal is silver.kind regardsPeter Quote
Guest Guest Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Here is the other side! The diameter of the piece is 12 mmKind regards Peter Quote
Geordie582 Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 (edited) It's not lead is it? If it could be, or billion, then I'd suggest a "Mereaux" or church token. I'm busy researching one at the moment. I'll post pictures as soon as I get them on Omnicoin! (mine's lead though)http://www.omnicoin.com/display_img.aspx?image=Image1 Edited August 25, 2006 by Geordie582 Quote
