Mary Queen of Scotts 1553 Gold Coin

We are trying to find out the value of this rare Scottish gold coin. I do not know how to tell which denomination it is. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to post a picture for identification. Indication of size would help too!

Seaby's 'Scottish and the islands coins and their values' would help, though it is out of print I occasionally get it from the local library. Someone else has it out at the moment, here, but your local section may have it!

Just a word of caution regarding MQoS coins, there are many more fakes of these than originals, which of course there are quite few known of now. Usually they are an event of note whence they appear in the auction house.
