Peter Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Hi James It looks like a worn die. There are 2 established varieties for the 1835 1/4dReverse A Centre lines on St Andrew's cross are incuseReverse B Lines are raised. This is the same for 1834 1/4d's1835A & 1834B are the rarer types Quote

Jamesred Posted October 16, 2005 Author Posted October 16, 2005 It looks like a worn die. Hi GuysThanks for the answers so far...... Looking at the farthings i have for 1835 (7 of them) the three on this particular coin is also different could it possibly be a 3/6??? Is my initial question regarding the 8 Having the flat left side to look like a B classed as an error??CheersJames Quote
Master Jmd Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 (edited) It does not look clear enough to be classed as anything other than a worn die, which yes is an error, but in this case it is not fatal enough for it to be classed as a new discovery. Edited October 16, 2005 by Master Jmd Quote

I wouldn't class a worn die as an error, nor something like a die crack. Errors to me are wrong letters or numbers, or the wrong flan or combination of dies. What does everyone else think? Quote
Jamesred Posted October 16, 2005 Author Posted October 16, 2005 im gonna need a headache pill Even if its not an error it still "different" maybe i'll see a dealer someday. But thanks for all your answers!!James Quote
