Citizen H Posted May 8 Posted May 8 William IIII Four Pence Fault, So.... another attempt to find a mint fault coin amongst the hoard.... does this have the mint fault status ? I first spotted the lumps on the reverse and the obverse I noted the other areas..... the No 7 has bled into the edge....this may have been during circulation ? let me know what you think's happened......cheers "H" Quote
jelida Posted May 8 Posted May 8 The raised lines are due to cracks in a die nearing the end of its useful life. You do occasionally see raised blobs where a chunk of the die has actually broken off. Very common on coins of the C19 and earlier, and of little significance to collectors. Jerry 1 Quote
Peckris 2 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I agree - but the incuse dig by the 7 is almost certainly post-Mint damage. 1 Quote
