craigy Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 (edited) has seen better days but thats 3 whole ones from the same area, along with some cut halfs, and my second hammy this year Edited February 25, 2019 by craigy 1 Quote
Coys55 Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 From the portrait I can say that it's definitely not Richard I, or Henry II come to that. Probably John, but could also be Henry III I suppose. I think can make out L.O on the reverse so the moneyer could be RAVL, but that's a wild guess. Quote
Coys55 Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 On second thoughts RAVL is too early (classes 1-2). If L.O is correct then only SAMVEL (Canterbury) would work. Quote
Ukstu Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 (edited) Abel would also end in an L. The portrait has the vacant look in the eyes you see on class 5c coins of John. Edited March 7, 2019 by Ukstu Quote

Oh yes, I missed him when scanning the moneyer list earlier. I showed the pictures to Gerry S this afternoon too and we wasted a couple of minutes on it. Still none the wiser though. Quote
Ukstu Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 It's probably ABEL as the ON starts just before the six oclock position. SAMVEL would extend further round the coin. Quote
