azda Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Found this on the NGC website if you ever think about submitting coins, or maybe for anyone that uses ebay for buying/selling etc, couple of insurance companies to look out for Shipments to non-US addresses are not insured. NGC is not responsible for loss or damage to international shipments. Please note that different carriers may have restrictions on certain items. Collectors and dealers are encouraged to consult with these carriers to confirm that their items are eligible. We encourage international submitters to secure private insurance coverage, such as that provided by Hugh Wood, ShipandInsure.com, Brink’s or Malca-Amit. If you have private insurance, please contact NGC Customer Service at service@NGCcoin.com or 800-NGC-COIN (642-2646) before submitting so that we can place this information on file. We must have this information on file prior to receiving your submission. Note: If you submit to NGC’s Official Submission Centers in Munich or Hong Kong, your submission will be fully insured in transit from the Official Submission Center to NGC headquarters and back to the Official Submission Center. NGC will also handle all customs clearance for such submissions. Grading fees for NGC’s Official Submission Centers in Munich and Hong Kong include round-trip shipping, insurance and customs clearance fees. Quote
Rob Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 I was aware of that and think it's a cop out. Given the cost of slabbing, you with think they would do the same as auction houses such as Spink, DNW or CNG do and include insurance as part of the shipping fee. e.g. for international shipping, the last lot I won in CNG had a shipping, handling and insurance charge of $50 on an invoice total of $3150, so 1.6%, of which shipping will be 1%. It's not a lot to insure goods on a company wide policy, say 1/2% of sum insured. Quote

I completely agree Rob, not sure what the difference is though between sending yourself or taking a coin to an NGC office, the price is surely the same.....Although, i don't know if it is or not, but can't see how it would increase. On ebay, you send a coin and it's your liability until it arrives into the buyers hand, the same scenario should theoretically apply here because you are paying for the return shipping Quote
