I thought that all UK coins when a new/change in design is to be made are supposed to have a Royal Proclamation published in 'The Gazette '. I've looked through 'The Gazette' notices for any coin proclamations again and found the relevant notice. https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/2538345 see Twenty Five Pound Coin section 5(b) However I don't remember the other £25 coin mentioned in this proclamation and also it seems that neither gold coins were stated to be legal tender! A Two Pound silver coin is mentioned and I also don't remember but this one being issued but this one was to be legal tender. All very strange and confusing. Quote
