jbsouthwest Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Does anyone know what this is, its Spanish and appears to be plated i dug it out of the ground last week ,any info much appreciated it has the same middle symbols on both sides ? Quote
argentumandcoins Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Your pictures aren't the best! If it is old (difficult to tell from pictures) and brass the most likely ID will come from researching Spanish or French coin weights. Quote
jbsouthwest Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 Thankyou for responding ,agreed not the best pictures ,Hispania is on the " coin" and the symbols are spanish i have researched a little online but see similar but all with different symbol on reverse side it is very light ,whitch makes me think its plated alloy of some sort token coin old forgery ?not sure Quote
Rob Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 The relief looks a bit high for a struck piece. It could well be a cast. 1 Quote
Leo Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 The shape around the arms of Castille reminds of silver pieces from the Segovia mint, but the shape should be raised unlike your 'coin'. In any event, there are no coins with the same design on both sides. That must be some sort of experiment 1 Quote
jbsouthwest Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 Thanks for your input ,i am baffled by it ,like you say Leo having the same symbols but different wording around the edge on one side is strange Quote
