Why oh why do people insure? Put your coins somewhere safe.It isn't rocket science.Split the collection.My Daawg makes a big noise. There is no way I would insure.

That's pretty much my thinking as well. I understand why collectors want to, but the ultimate issue is that you're not replacing like with like, You're replacing a precious, painstakingly built collection, accumulated over many years, with a roughly equivalent cash value.

As you say, use your imagination and find a place no thief will think of looking. Create a dummy collection of rubbish and leave it somewhere semi obvious, if you're well known for having a great collection.

Maybe I'm in the wilds of Suffolk.My family have now left but wow betide any sneekie pond life tries to get in and they would regret it.

Well, it's the very concept of insurance... you pay someone else to take on a risk that you don't want to deal with.

Perhaps if I had good hiding places at my disposal, or Cerberus sleeping in the kitchen while I'm at work, I would think it again!
