Nordle11 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Apparently they're doing a live preview on their facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ChangeChecker/) of the new £1 at 1 o'clock. Not sure what that entails but might be worth a watch. Quote

I am intrigued as to precisely what the hidden top secret security feature is though. The big date is 28th March, and I think he said we have until the end of October to spend all the old ones, before they are demonetised. The total weight of the ones produced for circulation since 1983, is equivalent to the weight of 6000 elephants. 1 Quote
Nordle11 Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 I'm also interested in the secret feature, at first I thought it was just a combination of a lot of different features.. Quote

On a visit to the RM's Visitor Center the guide said the new £1 coin contained "Fairy Dust" a secret ingredient that the RM would use to identify genuine coins from forgeries. From the way she said it, it sounds as if it is something in the metal mix. Ian.. Quote
