I recently bought a commonwealth sixpence to add to my collection. On closer inspection it looks like the 'S' on 'US' is covering an old letter. Is this correct, or is it just me? any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Descartes

Looks like it's just double-punched, seems to follow the same curves.

Can you take a close-up of just the S?

Hi Nordle, thank you for your reply. The only other photo I have at present is the attached (from the seller). The coin is currently at my mother's and I won't be seeing it again until I return on Christmas Eve!

A nice Christmas present for when you get back anyway. It does look like another S under there, but having it in hand will probably yield better results.
