Chris Perkins Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 I've edited this post, because it was complete rubbish! I'd mis read my Freeman. Freeman lists just 1 type of 1881H Farthing. Quote
Peter Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Chris to add to 1881 1/4d varieties....info from Colin Cooke and listed in my own catalogue/record of 1/4d'sType A;H virtually in contact with the 1st H.Type B;H slightly nearer 1st 8,H clear of linear circle.Type C;H centrally placed between 88 above linear circle.Type D;H centrally placed but lower near linear circle.Type E;H centrally placed but lower than type B near linear circle.Type F;H slightly double struck.Type G;H stongly double struck.I reckon Collectors Coins Great Britain will one day be 250 pages thick. Chris Perkins Posted January 8, 2005 Author Posted January 8, 2005 Those varieties are so difficult to explain without pictures, I think they are too advanced for CCGB2006! Like you say, it could easily be 250 pages thick, and it's a bit beyond the scope to go that far. Most dealers would just charge the same amount for each without even looking. Quote
Master Jmd Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 You can use my Type B 1881 H farthing's picture I think that it would be best to start a topic in the Research Forum about varietties that are not listed. The more varieties the book has, the better sales it should make Quote
Emperor Oli Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Also the more it would cost, probably depreciating sales Quote
Master Jmd Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Also the more it would cost, probably depreciating sales Maybe...but i think that if collectors knew that CCGB books offered a lot of year varieties then they would try to get hold of a copy...I would. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted January 8, 2005 Author Posted January 8, 2005 I think it already contains more variety listings than any other price guide by quite a margin. I think varieties should be listed and as many as possible, but only if they have an effect on the value of the coin. Quote
