Half Penny Jon Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 That's quite good then. Were the coins you were selling on Ebay your old or unwanted coins? Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 Yes, I'm going to stagger a few more soon just follow the link in my sig. I'll relist them in about 5mins... Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 Ok then, which coins will you list on there? Quote
Master Jmd Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 oli, the picture of the 1839 farthing is terrible, no wonder it didnt sell... Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 I know the picture is terrible, I said so in the description Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 No idea. It stopped working before so I took it to pieces and reassembled it and now it scans in crappy quality. I'll just buy a new one instead methinks Quote
custard1966 Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 I could almost weep...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...3911832002&rd=1 Quote
Chris Perkins Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 Lucky I was sitting down when I followed that link!If I wasn't so polite I'd say really rude words at this point. Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 Nine hundred and ninety nine pounds is he serious? Having looked through his feedback, he doesn't seem to have much experience with coins! Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 That is definately not an overdate from what I can see. Chris would be able to tell better than me. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 Some overdates you cannot spot unless you magfify x10 so although highly unlikely, it cannot be ruled out.More than likely if there is anything there, it'll be where one die blow failed to register with the other and caused an 8 with two bottom circles, or something like that. Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 Yes, but how would anyone be able to tell if it is an overdate from the picture. Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 Nobody would care because an overdate in that grade isn't worth £999! Quote
Geoff T Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 I see no overdate either, and nor do I see any mention of one in standard reference books. As for the price, I'm convinced it's an unretracted typo and the seller actually meant to put £9.99 (and even that's pushing it for a coin in that condition). Quote

I don't think it's a typo, cos it says £999.00 It might have been a typo if it had said just £999, but sadly, I think this is serious Quote

Half Penny Jon Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 Either Oli's right or some idiot thinks a coin in Fair condition is worth taking out a second morgage on! Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 Near enough considering that you might as well throw the money down the drain. Quote
william Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 Either Oli's right or some idiot thinks a coin in Fair condition is worth taking out a second morgage on! I think that coin is even pushing it for fair, looks almost poor... Quote
