kumarik Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Good afternoon. I want to apologize in advance, because they do not speak English. I want to ask a question about 1 pound coin in 1997. The reverse of the coin there is an image of the Celtic cross. But all sources indicate that there should be - the three lions Plantagenet. Weight parameters are normal coins. It is known for such coin or not? With respect to all participants in the forum. Quote
jelida Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Hi Kumarik, welcome to the forum. Looking at the state of this coin, it probably does just about merit a posting in the 'hammered' category, as you have done?. It is probably a fake, they have been widely forged, often with wrong die pairings and edge legends. The quality can be quite good, and weights normal. The problem is so great in terms of numbers in circulation that the design and shape of the £1 coin has been revised, for release in early 2017. Jerry Quote
Nordle11 Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Welcome to the forum Kumarik, I'd agree with Jerry it does look very much like a fake £1. Just to let you know, you have posted your reply as a Report so it hasn't shown on the thread. Kumarik's response; Thank you very much for a good answer. I also think looking at this coin, it comes from the concrete mixer. But since we did not find any information (I'm from Ukraine), I thought that the British coin collectors must know everything about British coins. Thank you Quote
