Hi again. Can anyone give me any information on this old worn George III 1762 coin? Weight and dimensions roughly as a threepence, probably silver? The nearest i could get was a quarter guinea. Was this possibly be a fake coin from back then? Any help appreciated.

Hi. Do any of you guys know if this 1864 florin is a fake? I bought it in a joblot last year. My scales are a bit dodgy but they are flashing between 11g and 11.5grams. The width of the coin is 30.1mm. Non magnetic. There also seems to be a die crack which may go all the way through the coin. Sorry i have only supplied the obverse picture of the coin, but i am only allowed to upload 501kb. Thank you.

Thank you both for your help.Yes it was the gap between the lace and the hair. I noticed a few i researched on ebay looked like the lace was attached. As Rob says, maybe a weak strike? The centre of the reverse also looked wrong with the outside edge of the cross not prominent and a mark in the cross. Again maybe a weak strike?

Hi. I.m just new to the forum and would like some advice on an 1887 Queen Victoria Double Florin. Do any members know if there are any counterfeits of these coins? The lace veil on the head seems to lift at the front. Any input would be very much appreciated.
