  1. Hi all, I'm back after about 13 years! I joined this forum when I first started collecting, and since then I've worked at Spink, Heritage Auctions, Sovereign Rarities, and am now at eBay UK as category manager for coins. It's funny logging back into my account here as my profile picture is still the first Newark shilling I ever purchased. It's been upgraded three times since, culmunating in this from the recent Mortcombe collection... a dream coin for me, a Newark showing a visible 'A' hallmark denoting its host plate's production in 1638.
  2. Hey guys, could anybody help me with the grade of this halfcrown? Thanks, Robbie
  3. Hi again, Yep, it's a shilling alright. I'm not too shy, it cost me £180, but without the hole it would have been worth in the thousands. I know that there's a note at the start of Spinks saying most collectors would prefer a common coin in excellent condition than a rarity in poorer condition but I've never agreed; I really like rarer, older coins, and am willing to make sacrifices such as the plug in this coin in order to have it in my collection Robbie
  4. Hey Matt, Sure thing - when I collected back in 2011 my dream coin was one of those, a Newark siege coin. During the Civil War Newark was under siege and out of desperation they chopped up silver plates for use as coinage; after the war they were often pierced for use as pendants. This one has been badly holed/filled but without would likely have cost me 10 times more than what I paid for it due to the good condition. I love the history of these coins so they're my favourite Robbie
  5. Hey guys, I joined this forum in late 2011 really in order to sell my coin collection rather than discuss it; however, as one or two of the people to whom I sold coins can confirm I've been feeling this was a mistake and thus buying back some of my previous coins and overall collecting again. Hopefully will become a regular member of this forum, here are a couple of the members of my new collection Robbie
  6. Hi

I am interested in your Anne Vigo half crown, is it still for sale?
